Left Front led by Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 196 seats, a majority. Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya was reelected as Chief Minister. Pankaj Kumar Banerjee of All India Trinamool Congress, took charge as Leader of the Opposition.
